What is a differential ring and pinion kit?

Components of axle ring and pinion
- Ring gear: The ring gear is a large, circular gear that is mounted on the inside of the differential case. It meshes with the pinion gear and is responsible for transferring torque from the driveshaft to the axle shafts, which ultimately drive the wheels. The teeth on the ring gear's outer circumference engage with the teeth of the pinion gear.
- Pinion gear: The pinion gear is a smaller gear that is connected to the vehicle's driveshaft. It is positioned at a slight angle and meshes with the ring gear. As the pinion gear rotates, it transfers rotational force (torque) to the ring gear, which, in turn, transfers the torque to the axle shafts.
